When excess baggage cargo may help
Travellers, students and families sometimes need to send more belongings than they can conveniently carry. Depending on the contents and arrangements available, extra luggage, packed personal effects or cartons may be considered for a freight service to Pakistan. Airline baggage allowance and cargo shipping are different arrangements, so it is worth comparing the practical requirements before deciding how to send your belongings.
Suitcases and bags may not be treated in the same way as export-ready cargo cartons. Ask about acceptable packaging, tags, locks, contents information and whether the selected service accepts the type of luggage you plan to send. Do not assume an airline's baggage rules apply to a separate cargo service.
Prepare your extra luggage for shipping
- List the contents and identify any electronics, batteries, liquids or restricted items.
- Provide the approximate dimensions and weight of each bag or box.
- Share the UK collection location and full recipient address in Pakistan.
- Check whether customs paperwork, a contents declaration or additional preparation is required.
Sending a clear contents list is particularly helpful when luggage contains a mix of clothing, books, personal items and gifts. Do not pack prohibited goods or conceal items that need to be declared. Confirm how the luggage will be labelled, collected and delivered before handing it over.
Excess baggage questions
Is excess baggage cargo the same as an airline baggage allowance?
No. Airline baggage is governed by the airline's passenger rules, while a separate freight shipment has its own acceptance, packing and documentation requirements.
Can I ship a suitcase full of personal belongings?
Acceptance depends on the service and contents. Describe the suitcase and its contents in advance so the team can confirm whether it is suitable and how it must be prepared.
